In keeping with our mission statement, Cowboy's Rest is here to serve churches and other Christian organizations. We do not host events for secular public or private organizations. All participants at Cowboy's Rest must be able to sign our Doctrinal Statement and Statement of Responsibilities. What church is Cowboy's Rest affiliated with? Cowboy's Rest is not connected to any one church or denomination. Our desire is to serve all members of the body of Christ who believe, as we do, that the Bible is the one and only, inerrant written revelation of God and that Jesus Christ is God incarnate and the only means and hope for man's salvation. |

Facility Descriptions
The Lodge, a two-story retreat center, is available for both summer and retreat guests. It contains 5 bedrooms and 4½ baths and is able to house up to 26 people. The lodge contains a kitchen and dining area and is utilized for meals and meetings during our cold-weather events.
Five comfortable Cabins are also available for housing, each sleeping up to 7 people on bunk beds. The cabins are equipped with electrical lighting, heat, and ceiling fans and are located just a few short steps from our bathhouses.
Our rustic Covered Wagons and Teepees are always a favorite with kids! The 4 wagons contain special sets of bunk beds and are able to sleep 8 people each. Our teepee contains cots and can also sleep 10 people. (The wagons and teepees are not equipped with electricity… so bring your flashlights!)
Solar-powered bunkrooms provide additional cabin spaces with 24-hour access to power. The Buffalo Barn sleeps up to 12 people while the three -sectioned "Pond" cabin has two bedrooms with 6 beds and one with 4.
Our two Bathhouses each contain five toilets, sinks, and showers. They are centrally located near the Pavilion and just a short walk from the cabins, wagons, and teepees. Both bathhouses, as well as the bathrooms in the Lodge, are cleaned twice daily by our cleaning staff.
Our four-acre Reservoir is stocked with trout and bass. It's available for fishing, swimming, and canoeing (Canoes, paddles, and life vests are available at no extra charge). We’ll even cook up a catch for the kids! (Fishing gear not included, no powerbait please)
The Blob as well as our Water Obstacle Course are available during Summer Camps only. The Blob is not available for the kids camps, but the water obstacle course provides fun for all ages.
The Chapel is an air-conditioned space equipped with a stage and basic sound equipment for worship and teaching times for larger groups. Accommodates up to 150,
The Pavilion houses our outdoor kitchen as well as a covered, open-air dining and meeting area. It can easily accommodate up to 150 guests and is equipped with lights and a sound system for meetings, music, and announcements. This is where we feed our larger summer groups, and it is available for meetings, games, and hanging out all day.
Our grassy Recreation Area (AKA the Upper Lawn) is perfect for picnicking, volleyball, badminton, or other organized games.
A concreted Campfire Area is available for evening use. Roast some marshmallows, sing some songs, and enjoy the mountain air! Retreats are welcome to bring dutch ovens or other campfire accouterments.
Our Low-Ropes Obstacle Course provides safe and challenging fun with challenges that carter to multiple difficulty levels
Our 24-foot Climbing Wall (helmets and harnesses provided and required) has multiple sides, each with its own difficulty level.
Our Disc Golf and Mini Golf Courses, Basketball Court, and Ga-Ga Ball Pit all provide great ways to spend your free time!
The Stable is a game room that helps get you out of the sun, while still having fun while you take a break. Hang out while you play air hockey, shuffle board, foosball, pool, table tennis, and more!
Our Sunset Ridge Hiking Trail as well as our easier and less steep Lower Trail are available for a modest jaunt to our beautiful Outdoor Chapel. The outdoor chapel is accessible by a 1 mile dirt road which can be taken there or back instead of the hiking trails. The Sunset Ridge Trail is 1.5 miles from start to finish (2 miles starting from the Pavillion) and the road back is 1 mile, making for a 3-mile round-trip.
Our .22 Shooting Range is a safe and supervised way for kids to learn about responsibly using small-caliber firearms. For shooting larger caliber or to have a skeet-shooting competition at your retreat (clay shooters available), please contact us ahead of time.
Our Paintball Course (all gear included, BYO optional) is available for use for $15 per session ($5 paintball refills). Please let us know ahead of time if you plan to have paintball sessions at your retreat.
The Archery Range has close-range compound bows and classic hay bale targets to practice on.
During the coldest months, the Reservoir is available for ice fishing, skating, and broomball. We have many pairs of skates and many hockey sticks available. Want to skate at night? We’ll light up the ice!
Our Recreation Area is also available for some fun, snowy games. Warm up later at the Campfire Area.
And don't forget our Sledding Hill and groomed Cross-Country Ski Trails for hours of active winter fun (if God brings winter to a retreat, which could always happen)!

Recreation!
Recreation or "Rec" is the main game portion during our camps. Each camper is placed on a team for the week where they will compete in many games, night games, and a scripture memorization challenge.

Our staff, games, and equipment can be used for recreation at your retreat for an additional $50 per camper.

Cowboy's Rest is located 60 miles south of Elko, Nevada, which is 290 miles east of Reno, and 230 miles west of Salt Lake City, Utah. The camp sits at 6,800 feet elevation and is located on the southern end of the majestic Ruby Mountains at the foot of Sherman Peak (10,300 ft.). |
Driving Times
For many of our guests, traveling to Cowboy’s Rest via U.S. 50 and Eureka may shorten the trip. However, I-80 and the Elko route offer more stops and amenities.
