CAMP SCHEDULE(click here)
Special Needs Campout is an opportunity for people with special needs to safely enjoy the great outdoors, make new friends, learn about God’s love, and try out many fun activities in an atmosphere fitted to their needs, desires, and abilities. This summer’s Special Needs Camp invites the whole family to attend. |
Housing - Options provided include the cabins, tepee and wagons. Cabins sleep 4-7 people with a lockable door, tepee sleeps 10 and wagons 8. All are a short walk to the bathhouses which have private toilets, sink and shower. Do you have your own RV? Feel free to drive it out for the event! Parking is available near the bathhouses.
Camper Companions – this year, each Special Needs Camper will have an assigned Companion for ALL daytime activities. As soon as campers wake up, their companion will keep them moving from activity to activity, from dawn til dusk, when families can reunite for the night’s rest. NOTE: If you have a tutor for your camper, they are welcome to attend and be your Camper’s Companion. Other housing can be provided for them as well. Family can’t come? We may have a Camper Companion for your camper. Staff is limited! Call us for availability. Activities – Family members are invited to relax while their camper experiences all the usual activities of Cowboy’s Rest. Families can do ALL the activities as well, or get some well-needed rest. Besides Worship and the Word time, workshops will be provided by speakers Randy & Nicole McCaskill for Parents of Special Needs kids, and Siblings of Special Needs kids. Special Situations Day use – Can’t make the whole event? Come out for a full day, Tuesday July 25, and experience camp! Reduced rates apply. Special needs Camp Missionaries
With special campers to care for, special meals to cook, and special needs to meet, we are looking for volunteers who would like to devote a few days to this special work. All volunteers will be background-checked and receive special training before our campers arrive.

Meet our Special Needs Camp Leaders:
Special-needs parenting is relentless, but God is good
Our son, Gabe, was diagnosed with autism at age two, and we started a home therapy program when he was three. (While Gabe is still nonverbal, he has learned many appropriate behaviors and skills, and he's able to communicate his basic needs using an iPad.) There have been many challenges in raising Gabe in our remote location, but God has always provided for us... and there are many blessings, too. We are so thankful that he can enjoy the outdoors and activities here at camp, but we realize that there are individuals like him who cannot. That's why we want to share this place with other special needs families. And most of all, we hope we can share some of the encouragement, grace, and rest God gives us every day. |
